my goals with this piece were to take something boring and paint it in a new way. to do this, i painted the subject much bigger than i normally would, choosing to cut off part of the egg at the top too. it surprised me how quickly i got it done. i think my painting really works in the eggs themselves, and the reflections of the light on the plastic shells. in the beginning when i laid down the initial colours, i forgot to leave white spaces for the highlights. but thankfully i had made the first pass so light that it ended up working in my favour!
Yes! it is one of the artists job to take the mundane and transform it through the artists eyes and show the public how beautiful the world can be if one looks just a little harder.
