my goal with this painting was, quite simply, creating a still-life. to be completely honest, i really hate still life art. so having no experience in it, i truly just wanted to try it out. i think the hardest part was my first take of this painting (done in oils) that just went horrendously. i realized i had bitten off more than i could chew and switched back to watercolours, which are the medium i'm most familiar with. i think my painting really works within the pool ball itself. i took the colours i could see in the reflection and pulled them out as much as i could to create a sort of surreal effect, like you're looking at the pool ball in real life but your brain has twisted it to something strange.
